Network Rail chairman to step down as £38.5bn upgrades are delayed

Chairman Richard Parry-Jones will be replaced by London’s transport commissioner Sir Peter Hendy, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin’s announces

Network Rail’s chairman, Richard Parry-Jones, is to step down and will be replaced by London’s transport commissioner Sir Peter Hendy.

The transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin’s announcement follows news that some of Network Rail’s £38.5bn planned upgrades are to be delayed after costs spiralled.
