Rail services in Scotland shut down as 110mph winds hit
ScotRail suspends all services to allow inspection of rail lines as winds driven by powerful jet stream blow down trees and trucks
Winds caused serious disruption in northern parts of the UK on Friday morning, with ScotRail suspending all its services “for safety reasons” after gusts of up to 110mph.
A spokesman for the rail company said: “For safety reasons it will be necessary for Network Rail to inspect rail lines across the network for damage this morning before allowing passengers to travel on routes.”
