UK rail fares to rise by 1.9%

New ticket prices follow TUC research showing fare rises far outstripping wages prompting calls by commuter campaign groups to renationalise railways

Rail fares will increase by 1.9% this January, amid renewed calls from campaigners for the nationalisation of rail companies.

Regulated rail fares will rise in line with July’s RPI inflation figure that was published on Tuesday morning.
