DS Smith’s Recycling Division Launches Lytx DriveCam Programme
The DriveCam® Programme combines sophisticated predictive analytics with a coaching programme to improve driver performance and prevent collisions and reduce costs by an average of 50-80%.
DS Smith’s Recycling Division will deploy the solution to 130 plus vehicles in its fleet after 23 vehicles took part in the trial. The company decided to take part in the trial after the DriveCam Programme proved to be successful in other areas of the business, notably leading to DS Smith driver Ian Peters being recognised as Lytx International Driver of the Year for 2013.
Paul Jones, Lytx Europe Ltd.’s vice president and general manager said: “We are delighted that DS Smith has continued to recognise the benefits of the DriveCam Programme and rolled out the Programme to other areas of the business. The road is a dangerous environment and we give businesses the tools they need to ensure that their drivers get home safely each night.”
Adrian Ball, Logistics Manager at DS Smith’s Recycling Division, added: “After seeing a reduction in collision costs of 75% and, most importantly, a significant reduction in rollover events within other divisions of the business, implementing the DriveCam Programme was an easy decision to make.”
Lytx works closely with its clients to help them expand their own internal driver coaching capabilities, helping drivers to develop their risk awareness.
Jones concluded: “As well as giving our clients the insight to be able to proactively manage risk and improve driver safety, the Programme can help to exonerate drivers when they are not at fault and lower operating and insurance costs. As DS Smith also knows, the DriveCam Programme provides an excellent opportunity to recognise and reward professional skill.”
Lytx Europe Ltd will be exhibiting at the Resource Efficiency and Waste Management Show at the NEC on 16-18 September.
