Dozens of flights cancelled as Metropolitan police struggle to remove group from runway in east London

Nine Black Lives Matter UK activists have been removed from the runway of London’s City airport after chaining themselves together in a six-hour protest that caused severe travel disruption.

Dozens of flights were cancelled or rescheduled on Tuesday as police struggled to remove the group who erected a wooden tripod on the runway and secured themselves to it and each other.
