Owen Smith: CCTV shows Jeremy Corbyn chose to sit on train floor
Labour challenger denies calling leader ‘a lunatic’ at London rally, and echoes his call for railway renationalisation
The Labour leadership challenger, Owen Smith, has said it is obvious from the evidence shown in CCTV footage that Jeremy Corbyn chose to give up a seat and sit on the floor to make a point about overcrowded trains in a video.
Labour’s leader was drawn into a row with Virgin Trains after the rail operator disputed his account of being forced to sit on the floor of a “ram-packed” train, releasing CCTV footage of him apparently walking past free seats before the video was shot.
