Northern Rail industrial action called off after conductor guarantee
RMT hails major progress in talks after getting commitment to having guards on trains
The long-running industrial action at Northern Rail, which has included 47 days of strikes over the two past years, has been called off.
The RMT union said it had suspended further action after being guaranteed a conductor on all trains for the rest of the franchise, running until 2025, from the operating company Arriva Rail North with the backing of the Department for Transport.
